At Johnson Roofing, our number one goal is safety, driven by a pursuit of excellence. The protection of our field team, building owners, occupants, and passers-by are of utmost importance. To that end, we have one of the best, if not the best, safety records for a roofing contractor in the state of Texas, as demonstrated by our 0.84 experience modification rating (EMR). An EMR gauges past cost of injuries and future chances of risk.
Another differentiator is that we fully train our crews on OSHA regulations with a special emphasis on fall protection. We also provide supplemental training for all of our subcontractor partners.
Today, we have 25 NRCA Certified Torch Applicators, 23 trained First Aid and CPR providers.
We also employ 15 Competent Persons for fall protection in accordance with the U.S. Army COE Safety Manual OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Sub Part M Fall Protection. This advanced 24-hour training includes regulation training, planning, and hands-on workshops.
Unlike most of our competitors, we are licensed by the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas (RCAT), which provides many benefits to you, the customer.
Our safety training is conducted through Johnson Roofing University (JRU), which our CEO, Sherri Johnson McDonald, created and implemented in 2017. The goal of JRU is to provide all Johnson Roofing team members the tools necessary to gain knowledge and advance their careers within our company.
On several occasions, we have received Texas Mutual Insurance's safety award for our constant focus on improving safety and our safety record over the years. In one instance, we were selected from a pool of 48,000 companies to win one of 164 awards.
On a regular basis, including in 2021, Johnson Roofing is recognized by the Central Texas Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) for our outstanding safety record and no lost time accidents.
In 1986, Bill Johnson was named President of the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas' (RCAT), followed by his daughter, Sherri, in 2018. Today, Bill and Sherri are the sole, parent-child past Presidents of RCAT. Sherri replaced Bill on the RCAT Board in 2012 where she still serves today.
Around 1970, we began providing breakfast to the men in the field every morning, and we still do this today. We feel breakfast replenishes glucose to boost energy levels and alertness, while also providing overall good health. It's one was we try to keep the field crew safe.
